I’m in the garage at Bristol Motor Speedway. TIDBIT: Max Siegel, the President of Global Operations for Dale Earnhardt, Inc. is behind the US Army Hauler chatting casually and he just said that DEI will announce their plans for the #8 car and a fourth team at Richmond International Raceway next week. He says sponsors are lined up for a fourth team. About their decision/announcement he told me “The fans are going to have a reaction to it and an opinion about what happens which they are very much entitled to and different things motivate different people. What we have to do is we have to get together as a management team and do what we feel is in the best interest of the company to be around, contribute to the sport and give the fans something that they can identify with as well. Regardless of what we do now, or who goes in that car or anything else we understand that it’s going to be you know an emotionally volitale and a difficult situation to deal with. In light of that…you know people should have the freedom to express themselves so what we have to do is prepare ourselves to weather that storm and to win the fans over to make them proud of Dale Earnhardt Incorporated who was what the company was started by – Dale Senior and Theresa Earnhardt and we have 500 employees that come in every week to work hard to make the company what it is. So the more we can get people focused on what the company stands for and all the people that contribute on a weekly basis to the racing community the better off we’ll be.”

oh please MAX
you all could care less what us fans think , by the way us fans know who built Dei YOU do not have to keep telling us we also know what SR would think of all this ! Mrs E has no reason other then spite to keep the 8 and we all see this , its sad that a women that is supposed to be a step mother first then a boss could do this but like jr said she has this right i just wish nascar would have stepped in and took the 8 and gave it to jr . and as far as what the company stands for well i really dont know what that is anymore i wish i did . maybe you can remind us with actions not empty words . you would have won back every jr fan if all you did was lease out the 8 to jr and not try and be all about money and control .

a big E fan and LIL E fan
no Mrs E fan yet maybe if she turns things around

I do not understand this statement at all, Max says he wants to do what is best for the company, for the life of me I can not figure out how DEI keeping the 8 is good for the company. Can someone please explain this to the fans? If anything,it hurt the company because now they have alinated the thousands of Jr fans that have been loyal to DEI for so many years. Giving Jr the rights to the number would of been what was best for the company because all of the fans would have eased up on the whole Teresa Earnhardt situation if she would of did this. So, in my opinion, it was done in spite, not for the good of the company and you will never soften that blow to the fans. Good luck to you Max, you are going to be a busy man trying to fix this situation that Teresa put you in. It’s really sad that you have to do all the dirty work for the Mrs. If there is one thing I do know for sure, Jr will be fine, probaly better off in the end, his fans will be there and will always be loyal to HIM, I don’t really think that Teresa realized how loyal until now. Thats too bad because I truly think if some changes were made at DEI, and Jr stayed, they would of definately had a championship together, and that would of meant the world to Dale Jr and his fans, but I guess we’ll never see that.

I know we are all deeply hurt that first, Jr could not come to a deal with DEI, and now the #, issure, but we all need to heed Jr’s wishes and lay off of Teresa. How would everyone like it if people attacked there mother, step mother, husband, child, whatever? I too had to sit back and say to myself your being stupid Dee, it’s just a number. Who do we all love? Jr.. and guess what! He’s going to be in a wonderful hot car that he might be able to get up front and I for one am looking forward to that. I could care less what # it has on it or what sponsor. God bless DEI, And God bless Teresa and Her family. And God bless Dale Jr. and most of all God bless Dale Jr.’s fans. Please be nice to people, life is too short.
Let’s just enjoy watching Dale Jr., Drive that Red #8 for 12 more races and then enjoy many victories to come next year…..peace out…God Bless

From what MaxAss is saying, the way I read it, was they are going to do something else we as fans will not like. They are going to move Tony Jr. to the 01 or the 1 car for ’08. I would not be surprised to see the entire 15 team move to the #8. Again, he said ” The fans are going to have a reaction to it and an opinion about what happens which they are very much entitled to and different things motivate different people. What we have to do is we have to get together as a management team and do what we feel is in the best interest of the company to be around, contribute to the sport and give the fans something that they can identify with as well. Regardless of what we do now, or who goes in that car or anything else we understand that it’s going to be you know an emotionally volitale and a difficult situation to deal with”. And at the end of the day, I think none of us Jr. fans would have issue with Martin driving the #8, so you do the math. Also, I heard what Jr. said about leaving TE alone and stop bashing her. I come from a similar sitsuation with a broom drving ( sorry Jr. ) stepmother, I know what he is going through.

Dude ( Jr. ) do what you are doing and that will make your Dad proud, it worked for me. I left my fathers business some time ago and made my own mark on this world. I stopped getting involved in the family $$$$ and it has changed my life HUGE. As far as your number, one more Dude, Dude, just drive the #5, you know what it means to Rick and his family, take the pressure off and KICK ASS IN ’08, because 3 minus 8 = 5……………………………

5. Kevin - August 27, 2007

Get ready Jr fans: heres why I predict: Mark Martin in the 8 next year, at least part time. Think about it; who else could they put in that number and not expect them to get booed off the track. At least this way, they hope to salvage a little.
It just erks the piss outta me all the conflicting stories of BS we are fed. “Nascar assigns the numbers.” :DEI and HMS cannot reach a monetary deal because numbers arenot for sale, so says NASCAR.” Yet, he gives up the number because Teresa stills wants part of the royalty rights from future 8 sales! BS! BS! BS!
I am a Jr fan! I would love to have kept the number, but Jr Nation will survive. Bring us a championship Mr Hendrick, and we’ll say ‘Teresa who’!
